SPAR cuts more than 50% of energy consumption with new ValuePack II
More about ValuePack II
58% less ENERGY consumption WITH ValuePack II
The Norwegian Supermarket Spar in Røyken was the first supermarket to install the new ValuePack II and thereby testing new technologies saving more than 50% energy consumption.
A refrigeration system must be made to withstand the worst possible operating scenarios, as the requirement for temperature for food products is the same regardless of external factors. The system for SPAR Røyken therefore had to be dimensioned for days warmer than 30 degrees Celsius outside, although this happens very rarely in Norway. Therefore, often systems are larger and more expensive than they need to be for most of the year and operated downregulated.
Facts
End-user: SPAR
Segment: Food Retail
Background: Pilot project for new ValuePack II
Product: ValuePack II with low pressure ejector and cylinder unloading technology
200,000 KWH SAVED YEARLY WITH EJECTOR
Energy savings on the refrigeration system at approximately 58 %, which is equivalent to 200,000 kWh a year compared to the system previously in store. If energy costs 0,1 EUR/kWh, it amounts to a reduction of EUR 15,000 per year
The solution at SPAR Røyken has ejector taking part of the “lift” the compressors normally take, and more is lifted without using more power. This gives more capacity when it is warm outside, and the facilities can thus be dimensioned less. The combination of the new compressor technology and ejector gives a better capacity regulation of the system, and in the future the possibility of smaller and less expensive facilities.
VALUEPACK II - A PERFECT MATCH
> Does not take up much space compared to the capacity of up to 136 kW
> The core module of the ValuePack II fits a Euro pallet and makes handling of bigger racks very easy
> ValuePack II includes the latest energy saving technologies like Low Pressure Ejector and Cylinder unloading technology for higher efficiency.
> It is a very reliable solution based on the experience from more than
2,000 ValuePacks
RESULTS
> Energy savings a year: 58% - 200,000 kWh - EUR 15,000
> Incredible space saving
> CO2 refrigerant as a sustainable solution
> System easily copied to other supermarkets
I definitely do not mind cutting electricity costs, but that is not the only advantage the new system provides. In the past, we had a huge technical space that was filled to the brim to accommodate the refrigeration system, now everything fits in to this cabinet, so it makes an incredible space save. The most important thing for me, however, is how reliable the system is. Not getting a message on a Saturday night that the refrigeration system has the strike means a lot."
